Being a member of SWPP photographic society, i have entered various competitions that are run on a monthly basis. Great experience for me and to see what everyone else out there in the photography world is up to.
Out of the blue in 2006 I recieved a phone call from SWPP asking if I would be attending their annual awards ceremony in London which we were considering going to.
Anyway to cut a long story, I was sat in my tuxedo listening to the winners names of various catagories, when up flashed on the huge screen one of my shots and the speaker announcing my name as winner of Environmental Portrait Photographer of the year, spot light on me up I got to the stage to recieve my award.
Amazing feeling and this made me realise that hey perhaps all this hard work is starting to pay off, and people out there like what I do !
